March Meltdown Challenge Day 30 Results

Once again, I am reminded that small efforts over time really do lead to great triumphs!

What a super fun day this was. My girl and I went shopping and I found some cute things, all of which were in smaller sizes! i bought a pair of size small exercise pants, a size medium jacket and a size 4 pair of skinny jeans! I still have a LONG way to go this year but the hard work is paying off!!!!

Here is a picture of the jeans and a dress my husband bought me the other day. I cannot wait to wear this over the summer. Must get some good TRX workouts in to get my shoulders and back ready! We bought the dress in a French boutique.....how chic!

Here are the jeans from today. The waist is a bit tight so it will be my mission to rid myself of the muffin top the month of April :)

As requested....The Cookbook Blog!

I cannot tell you how many people have asked me for the names of cookbooks that I use. I am so sorry it has taken me so long to respond. The fact is I have a TON of cookbooks but do not always use recipes from them. I will get ideas then take it and make the dish my own. I love to cook, I would say it is my greatest hobby, and so for me it is a joy to experiment. Here are a few of my favorite cookbooks, both healthy and some not so much!! :)

You can always take a dish and make it as healthy as you want, you just need to be creative. Oil can be substituted with Vegetarian or chicken broth, Braggs Aminos can be used instead of soy sauce. Dijon mustard or greek yogurt can be used instead of mayonaise....you get the picture. Be creative and see what happens!

My favorite health cookbooks at the moment are......
The Eat Clean Diet
Power Foods
The Cancer Fighting Kitchen
Veganomicon
Healthiest Foods on Earth
Color Me Vegan

A few of my go to cookbooks with amazing recipes which I modify are.....

Madhur Jaffrey's Indian
Classic Turkish by Algar
Jamies Italy
Williams Sonoma The World Kitchen
Malaysia and Singapore by Basan and Tan
Thai by Bastrya
The Food of India

March Meltdown Challenge Day 23 Results

Tonight will be my last blog before my next HM which is on Sunday. We are leaving early in the morning to head up to Dallas for my race. I am going to take pictures of my foods and will do a massive blog when we return. I will be good while gone BUT I am going to have several date nights with my husband, but trust me, I will eat well and I will have the pics to prove it!! I am going to carb up on Saturday night before my race. I still have not decided what to eat. A part of me wants sushi, you know a good brown rice spicy tuna roll or maybe a good veggie pasta dish, not sure.

Anyways, I am very excited about this race. For those who may not know, I am racing for the Susan G. Komen foundation! Thanks to so many wonderful supporters I have raised almost $1,300 for the organization! I am so honored and proud to be doing this on behalf of so many wonderful, strong women who have fought their way with grace and courage through breast cancer. This race is not about time or performance but in reverence for others. I want to soak in the spirit of the race and enjoy myself and of course, NOT have an injury. I have another half just 2 weeks later and one almost every month from now until December when I run my full so I have to run strong and stay slow if need be.....I am ok with this.

Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend. On Sunday, when I am running, I will be thinking of you all, I could not have done this without you. Take a moment on Sunday and say thanks for the blessings in your life and for your health.
